Okay so today I decided to get creative with the help of
this site and
this site to create my very own lip balm!! It was quite easy and I enjoyed making it so here we go:
The first batch I used petroleum jelly, cherry koolaid, sugar, and VIP smoothies mix.
It took a while to get the petroleum to met all the way in the microwave. I did it on 1:30 min intervals and stirred each time after about four times doing that I moved to 3:00 min intervals until it got a little bit more liquified. I would say I was microwaving for about 15 minutes.
Finally I decided it was liquified enough and decided to mix in the rest of the ingredients...I just eyeballed how much I used of each, but I did use the while pack of koolaid.
Finally I stirred it for a while and then popped it back in the microwave for about a min and thirty seconds. After it was mixed as good as I thought it would mix I poured it into my containers and put them in the fridge.
Okay so batch one was okay but I didn't like how the texture was as much as my second batch. I have to say I think it was due to the sugar. It just didn't mix as well as I wanted it to.
For the second batch I used petroleum jelly, olive oil (forgot the picture but you know what olive oil is!), macha, and honey. I loved the flavor combination.
I followed pretty much the same directions as the first one except I added about a tbsp of olive oil to the petroleum jelly. It's seemed to melt much more easily with the 3:00 intervals and stirring. It only took about 12 mins to get it liquified.
After that I waited 5 mins before mixing in the other ingredients. Once I mixed the honey and macha in I popped it back in the microwave for forty seconds the stirred once more before pouring them into the containers!
Loved the stackable container I got from the 100 yen store. Both batches looked really good together. Can't wait to make many many more flavor combinations and I also want to make some non petroleum lip balm. Can't wait to get those ingredients I will definitely do a blog on that one as well.
